We are a small Episcopal Church on the banks of the Rappahannock in Port Royal, Virginia. We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional land of the first people of Port Royal, the Nandtaughtacund, and we respect and honor with gratitude the land itself, the legacy of the ancestors, and the life of the Rappahannock Tribe. Our mission statement is to do God’s Will in all that we do.

Prayer Walk, Pentecost 2018

Prayer Walk, May 20, 2018 (full size gallery)

The 2018 prayer walk text is here .  13 participated.

The rain had been pouring all week but on Sunday, the sun was out, the birds singing and nature provided an inspiration along with the prayers. It was a wonderful prelude to the worship service and a way to renew our contact to the community we serve.

Pentecost was an appropriate time for this event.

Pentecost is a time of renewal for Christian believers and nature is a perfect place for us to be. Through studying the story of Pentecost, many seek and pray for spiritual gifts for the church during this time of holy celebration. There is a renewed focus on evangelism, empowerment from the Holy Spirit, deeper intimacy with God, and fellowship. For Christians, the celebration of Pentecost imparts faith, hope, a sharing of community, and an awareness of a purpose much greater than ourselves. We are sent out in mission with a new energy.

This is a successor to the 2017 walk which we did with Bishop Shannon. Last year we prayed with the Baptists, fishermen and other towns people. Above all we celebrated the beauty that we found. This year we are just hoping the rain lets up but we are using many of the same sites.

Here are videos of 4 of the sites visited:

1. King Street Pier

2. Office, Library

3. Shiloh Baptist

4. Back to St. Peter’s
