We are a small Episcopal Church on the banks of the Rappahannock in Port Royal, Virginia. We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional land of the first people of Port Royal, the Nandtaughtacund, and we respect and honor with gratitude the land itself, the legacy of the ancestors, and the life of the Rappahannock Tribe. Our mission statement is to do God’s Will in all that we do.

From Session 1 of “Preparing Your Legacy”

Everyone, thanks for coming tonight to the first session of Preparing your Legacy.

I appreciate the thoughts and comments you shared. If you have other things you’d like to ask or share, please feel free to respond to this email. Also, if any of you are interested in doing some group work on your spiritual journeys, let me know! I would be delighted for us to get to spend some time together sharing and growing.

The book I mentioned is What will they say about you when you are gone? Creating a life of legacy, by Rabbi Daniel Cohen. Health Communications, Inc. Deerfield Beach, FL 2016

The website for the Conversation Project is https://theconversationproject.org/
You will find various free downloadable guides on that website.

The website for Five Wishes is https://fivewishes.org/docs/default-source/resources/talking-about-your-wishes.pdf

From what I could gather, the actual five wishes document costs some money. If we ordered them in bulk, they’re less expensive. This is something we could consider giving out as a resource if enough people would like to have the document to use in their own planning.

The book that Helmut mentioned is AARP The Other Talk, A Guide to talking with your adult children about the rest of your life by Tim Prosch.

If you have other resources to share, please do so! We can all learn from one another.
Thanks again for joining in tonight.
