We are a small Episcopal Church on the banks of the Rappahannock in Port Royal, Virginia. We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional land of the first people of Port Royal, the Nandtaughtacund, and we respect and honor with gratitude the land itself, the legacy of the ancestors, and the life of the Rappahannock Tribe. Our mission statement is to do God’s Will in all that we do.

Advent Workshop – Spotlight on the Nativity Blocks

This was probably the favorite youth activity of the workshop, closely followed by the decorated Christmas tree. The workshop was held on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 26, 2023.

Wooden blocks were provided for the youth to draw one character of the manger scene with a marker. The taller wood blocks were Mary and Joseph with Jesus as the square block, lying in the manger.

The wooden blocks were sprayed ahead with acryllic so they ink not run. After the drawings were made on the wood and they had dried, they were sprayed again. The artist’s name was placed on the block.

We had several adults to answer questions and provide suggestions but the youth handled it mostly on their own.
