We are a small Episcopal Church on the banks of the Rappahannock in Port Royal, Virginia. We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional land of the first people of Port Royal, the Nandtaughtacund, and we respect and honor with gratitude the land itself, the legacy of the ancestors, and the life of the Rappahannock Tribe. Our mission statement is to do God’s Will in all that we do.

The Renaissance era, spanning roughly from the 14th to the 17th century, witnessed a revival of interest in classical art, culture, and humanism. During this period, artists found inspiration in various sources, including religious texts and scriptures. Christmas, as one of the central events in Christian tradition, was a subject of particular fascination for Renaissance artists. This course explores how Renaissance art depicted Christmas scriptures, highlighting key artists and artworks that contributed to this rich tradition.
