Seven people from St Peter’s went to the Paragon Theater in Fredericksburg on Jan 23, 2024 to see “A Case for Love” movie. It was 3+ years in the making by an Episcopalian filmmaker and is based on Bishop Curry’s “Way of Love” concept.
The movie spotlighted 13 stories involving unselfish love plus many more “man on the street” questions about Love. “What is love? Is love dead?” A number of prominent individuals were spotlighted including Episcopalians, Bishop Curry, Senator Danforth, and Al Roker.
As Bishop Curry writes in his book Love is the Way “Love as an action is the only thing that has ever changed the world for the better..” “Love is a commitment to seek the good and to work for the good and welfare of others.”
“A CASE FOR LOVE reminds us that no matter who you are or where you are from, love and kindness is a thread that connects us all. We just have to be willing to choose it. Through wide-ranging interviews, the audience realizes that each of us is unique and has our own story to share. But it is the power of love and kindness which helps us overcome challenges, differences, and division.”

“Jairus Daughter” on “The Chosen”
Jairus daughter appears in Mark 5:21–43, Matthew 9:18–26 and Luke 8:40–56. The Mark account is this Sunday, June 30.
Jairus was a synagogue ruler who asked Jesus to come to his house and heal his 12-year-old daughter. On the way to the house, Jesus healed a woman who had been sick for 12 years. By the time they arrived, the little girl had died, and the funeral had already begun. Jesus raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead. Jesus is amazed at Jairus’ faith even though he is suffering.
Here is how “The Chosen” dramatizes it:
After Jesus asks why the crowd is making a commotion and weeping, Jesus says, “The child is not dead but sleeping.” This statement is SO powerful! Because in making this statement, Jesus reminds us that God can see life where we only see death. God gives life in the midst of death. Our vision is limited. What we can see is only a piece of the whole. Sometimes, we can only see death. But God sees all, knows all, and redeems all.
Card of thanks to Elizabeth & Jim Heinbach
Catherine read the anniversary prayer to Elizabeth who is celebrating her 56th anniversary to Jim. Both are moving to Fredericksburg within the month. So it was a time of thanks and best wishes and as well as sadness.
Johnny then presented a card from the Vestry:
“Members of St Peter’s Church greatly appreciates your service during your years in Port Royal. Jim has been a faithful Treasurer keeping accurate records weekly while Elizabeth has been a leader in the ECW women and vestry serving as registrar for the church supporting all meetings. We hope you had a wonderful anniversary with love and appreciation.” St. Peter’s Vestry
