We are a small Episcopal Church on the banks of the Rappahannock in Port Royal, Virginia. We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional land of the first people of Port Royal, the Nandtaughtacund, and we respect and honor with gratitude the land itself, the legacy of the ancestors, and the life of the Rappahannock Tribe. Our mission statement is to do God’s Will in all that we do.

Authors in our midst

Elizabeth Heimbach and Dave Duke share the distinction in our congregation of being published authors. Elizabth’s interests naturally include Latin as well as the archaeology of Italy and England as they pertain to Rome. Her main focus has been Pompeii. Elizabeth, Jim and the rest of the Heimbach family paid a visit to Pompeii this past June.

From Elizabeth’s Publisher. “Her research interests include the Vesuvian cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum and the archeological sites of Arbeia and Bignor in England. Heimbach is the author of Latin Everywhere, Everyday (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2004), A Roman Map Workbook, 2nd Edition (Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, 2013) and Word Mastery through Derivatives: Designed for Designed for Students of Latin (2017)”

David Spencer Duke is the proud author of a children’s book, Libby and the Secret of the Lost Shells. Libby the Lobster lives in a lighthouse. She and her friend Skipper the Seagull find a bottle that has washed up on the beach and they are off on an adventure. Those of us who know Dave will not be surprised that these two are heading off on a treasure hunt. The book is brand new and is available on Amazon.
